It's THYME to play it again Sam

PLAY IT AGAIN SAM
was a
HUGE mural
that I painted going up our stairs

I used a design from one of John Slineys books
to paint this mural

I just love such a large
BLANK
canvas!
We were in the process of renovating our house at the time
so it was easier to paint this
BEFORE
the finished stair threads were installed

This was my husband on staging painting the walls before I started the mural
Did I mention that
 I HATE HEIGHTS!!!

Normally I would use a projector to enlarge such a design
but
there was just was no room in the stairs to use the projector

I had to enlarge the design on large sheets of drafting paper
then transfer the design to the wall with graphite paper.
This was probably the hardest part of the whole project!!!!

With that done I got to work painting in the background!

I then proceeded to paint Sam!

This shows the start of his pants being base coated

It can get bit akward painting such a large design
especially in a stairway!!

Sam and I spent MANY hours together!

But I enjoyed every one of them!

It was fun watching him come to life!

I especially loved painting his beard!

Starting to paint his hat

and
CROW

Adding shading and detail to hat , face and hair

Painting the post that Sam is leaning against

Starting to paint the trees

A view from the TOP of the stairs

Working on the trees

Starting the Saltbox houses

Salbox houses done

Working on the sheep!

Sheep!

This was a BIG project to work on!
BUT
THE END RESULT WAS WORTH IT!

Happy Painting!

As AMERICAN as apple pie

This is a design by
JOHN SLINEY
called
ALL AMERICAN
that I have painted

"When an American says that he loves his country, he means not only that he loves the New England hills, the prairies glistening in the sun, the wide and rising plains, the great mountains, and the sea.
He means that he loves an inner air, an inner light in which freedom lives and in which a man can draw  the breath of self respect."
~ Adlai Stevenson

Lynn

Thyme to pick apples and school days

Can you believe that it is almost
APPLE PICKING THYME?
Wow where has the summer gone?
I am now painting for 2 shops so can we say
BUSY, BUSY , BUSY!!!!!

This is a welcome sign that I have painted using a
John Sliney Design
called
Nature & Company

I also painted the cider sign
I bought the little desk you see in my header a few years ago
 in an
Antique Shop
I painted the design on the top of it with a
John Sliney Design

design called
Jordan Goes to School

I just love this little desk
In the fall I usually put it out on my porch to decorate.
When it is inside the house
one of my favorite bears likes to sit at it!
Happy Painting!

Its back to school!
To all those returning to school
I hope you have a great year!
I have posted pictures before of
this old childs desk I found and painted
but
for those of you who missed it
I'm posting it again
I used a John Sliney Design
called
Jordan goes to school
to paint this

I've started putting out some Fall decorations here and there!
I love painting and decorating for Fall
I continue to be busy painting in preparation for the
fall preview open house for the shop I paint for.
The theme for it is
make your own scare crow
so I've been busy painting
"Scarecrow Accessories"
Crows, pumpkins, signs etc.
I'll post some pictures of them soon!
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Happy Painting!

I am Forever Grateful

This Memorial Day weekend
may we always remember
its
true meaning
and
never
forget the sacrifice
of so many
brave men and woman

the folded flag that I have painted
here
should always remind us
of
WHAT we have
and
WHY
we have it

I have painted these candle sconces
using a
John Sliney Design
called
Forever Grateful
I will be forver grateful to the brave men and women
who have served
and
continue to serve this great country of ours

Memorial Day
is a
 DAY OR REMEMBERANCE
for those who have died in our
Nations service
They gave their lives for their country
and never came home from the war

Memorial Day
once called Decoration Day
was first observed on May 30, 1868
when flowers were first placed
on the graves of  Union and Confederate Soldiers
at
Arlington National Cemetary

To help remind  Americans of the holiday’s true meaning,
a National Moment of Remembrance resolution
was passed 10 years ago, suggesting that at 3 p.m. local time,
Americans observe a moment of remembrance and respect,
pausing from whatever they are doing for a
few seconds of silence or to listen to taps.

Be safe this weekend
and
please
remember
to be
FOREVER GRATEFUL
Happy Painting!
Lynn
