This Memorial Day weekend
may we always remember
its
true meaning
and
never
forget the sacrifice
of so many
brave men and woman
the folded flag that I have painted
here
should always remind us
of
WHAT we have
and
WHY
we have it
I have painted these candle sconces
using a
John Sliney Design
called
Forever Grateful
I will be forver grateful to the brave men and women
who have served
and
continue to serve this great country of ours
Memorial Day
is a
DAY OR REMEMBERANCE
for those who have died in our
Nations service
They gave their lives for their country
and never came home from the war
Memorial Day
once called Decoration Day
was first observed on May 30, 1868
when flowers were first placed
on the graves of Union and Confederate Soldiers
at
Arlington National Cemetary
To help remind Americans of the holiday’s true meaning,
a National Moment of Remembrance resolution
was passed 10 years ago, suggesting that at 3 p.m. local time,
Americans observe a moment of remembrance and respect,
pausing from whatever they are doing for a
few seconds of silence or to listen to taps.
Be safe this weekend
and
please
remember
to be
FOREVER GRATEFUL
Happy Painting!
Lynn
So beautifully stated Lynn! I think to much of the time our society forgets the loved ones that fought for our country and why we have all that we do!

ReplyDeleteHi Lynn, hope your holiday weekend is filled with the people you love. My husband drives the WWII vets in the parade that are too old to march anymore. Our little village service is also quite moving. Thanks for your great post! (Your sconces are beautiful!) Dawn
