ELFCAPADES

Welcome to my
ELFCAPADES!

When my children were little I used to tell them that
SANTA
came to
ALL who BELIEVED
in
him!

And so each year
in the weeks leading up to
CHRISTMAS
I had to be sure
that
I could
MAKE THE MAGIC HAPPEN
by
CHRISTMAS

As you KNOW that can be EXHAUSTING!
SOOOoooooo

A few years ago I contacted
 my good friend Brenda Griffith
at
about making me an elf

This ELF
HAD
to be someone who could
help me

MAKE THE MAGIC HAPPEN
FOR
CHRISTMAS

Prior to my little ELF making his journey to my house he attended
ELF CLASSES

YES.....An Elf
MUST
learn

in order to graduate from Elf school!

It was ALSO expected that the ELF Brenda would send me
would know how to PAINT!
I waited patiently for his arrival when one day
there he was at my door!

How could one not
IMMEDIATELY
fall in LOVE with that impish grin?

Here is his story!!!!

When I first received my elf I did not name him.
I quite simply referred to him as
THE ELF
Oh how mischievous he was!!!!

Each year after waking from his
LONG WINTERS NAP

we would sit and have coffee together.
We would discuss
what needed to be done
before
the
BIG DAY
when
THE MAN IN THE BIG RED SUIT
would appear!

The "Elf" would sit quietly and take notes and compile
"to do"
lists for me!

We would take the
CHRISTMAS MAGIC
down from the attic
AND
we would start to
DECK THE HALLS

There were WREATHS to be made!

Trees to CLIMB.......ummmmm I mean decorate!

even my COLBY would look at me at
THYMES
and say
where in the world did you get that
"ELF"????

As quickly as I could sew Christmas stockings
 for my
family and grandchildren
The "ELF"
would stitch theirs names on!!!!

Not only do I like to BAKE
BUT
so did
THE "ELF"
It got to the point that if I even tried to go near my mixer
I was told to
BEAT IT!!!!!

He would wait ever so patiently
for those cookies to come out of the oven.
He considered himself the

BESTEST COOKIE TASTER
( his words)
around!!!

I often had to give him a teaspoon of
SANTA'S MAGIC STOMACH REMEDY
for
Elves
who eat too many

CHRISTMAS COOKIES!!

He sure
DID
love
CHRISTMAS COOKIES !!!!

AND
he could make
quite the
ANTIPASTI!!!
AND

MAMA MIA......

SAUCE AND MEATBALLS TOO!!!!!

After a LONG day
he would take
a
BATH

before retiring
for
the night

Some days he was up even
BEFORE
me
DOING HIS LAUNDRY!!!
* sigh *

OR

Advertising
for
HIRED HELP?????

We had some
VERY INTERESTING
applicants apply for the job!!
He "thought"he
was
"over worked!"

There were
GINGERS
to
  SEW

and
stuff

and
  Grunge!

Of course he found
FUN
in all we did

I had made a
 PRIM trencher
for the
GINGERS

but
The "ELF"
decided it would best be used
as a
sled for him!

As you can see my idea won!
BUT
that was ONLY
because the "ELF" had found another
SLED

This one was under the
CHRISTMAS TREE
for
my grandson
NATHAN

The "Elf" of course was not to happy to hear that
the sled was not for him and immediately took to
POUTING!

I informed him there was no thyme for pouting....there was work to be done!
so to the
STUDIO
 we went!!!!

We spent many a happy hours there painting and crafting!

I must say.....I had to get used to how he "worked" along side me in the
STUDIO.
One day this is how I found him
hanging amongst my
STENCILS
I asked what in the world he was doing with my
STENCILS ???

He of course replied
"I am going to paint a SIGN"

Hmmmm....well at least he was HONEST on both counts!!!!!!

There were LOTS of
Christmas Signs
to
paint and deliver
 for
the shops in THYME for Christmas
But before we could make a delivery
we had to take pictures for our inventory,
and
tag everything.

I
THOUGHT
printing tags would be a
GOOD JOB
for
The "ELF"

hmmmmmmm!!!!!!

Some how we would get it all done and the deliveries made!!!!

He was always
BUSY

NEVER
knew what he was going to do next!

What in the world is he BUILDING?????

Well....the Elf finally came up from the basement
and
said that he missed the
SNOW at the NORTH POLE
and
that he was a little homesick.
He then asked me to follow him down to the basement
that he had a little surprise for me......
I couldn't imagine WHAT???
But then I remembered the sound of power tools
down there all afternoon...
Hmmmm....seems like the "ELF" was down there
"building" snowmen all day!

Talk about getting "wrapped" up in his work......sigh!

I never knew what to expect NEXT from my little "ELF".
I had headed outside to take in the remaining FALL decorations
while the "Elf" headed into the STUDIO....saying that he was going to do some painting,,,
Hmmmm...I didn't KNOW he could paint????
Pleasant surprise!!!

He shut the STUDIO door and I could immediately hear
LOUD CHRISTMAS MUSIC
in there
When I came back in the music was
EVEN LOUDER!
I opened the door to this!!!

Well......it looks like he invited a few of his friends from the North Pole!!!
Grrr.....what happened to the painting?????
So I calmly asked him
" DO YOU REALLY NEED TO HAVE THE MUSIC DO LOUD?"
With his impish grin he replied
"THE BEST WAY TO SPREAD CHRISTMAS CHEER IS TO SING OUT LOUD FOR ALL TO HEAR"

  2. Lynn, love your story of the elf. You really should consider making a children's Christmas story out of it. Any little child would love to hear his story and see all his fun pictures. Just sayin. Hugs, Connie
