Thyme to show you a childs table and chair set I painted using John Sliney designs

I purchased this 

unfinished wood 

table and chair

and

decided to paint 

a

JOHN SLINEY DESIGN

on it

My main inspiration for this project 

was
 a design
by

John Sliney 

called

JORDAN GOES TO SCHOOL

The design can be found in the book

A ROAD TO SALTBOX MEMORIES

I used other designs 

by

John Sliney
 as
 inspiration to complete this project

My Pallette

Americana Acrylic Paints

Winter Blue, Titanium White, Lamp Black, Burnt Umber, Antique Gold, Sand, Buttermilk, Light Hauser green, Medium Hauser Green, Dark Hauser green, Plantation Pine, Rockwood Red, Midnight Blue, French Grey Blue, Light French Grey Blue, Slate Grey

I used painter's tape to create the border around my table
I painted it
Lamp Black

I re-applied painters tape to the border once the
 Lamp Black
was dry
so that I could start working on the center of the table

I painted the center of the table 
Winter Blue
and
Hauser Light Green

I transferred the design
using
graphite paper

transferring church design

I wanted the design to go all around the table

Here I am adding some shading for the hills

Painting the trees
and
school house

Adding the first house
 and
some sheep

I keep a small blow dryer handy 

to 

dry the paint more quickly

I use the largest possible brush always 

for 

my shading

which is a 1" flat brush

I also have on hand several size mop brushes

Lots of sheep!

Painting the flag

I added the alphabet to the boder using white graphite paper
I painted the lettering
with
Titanium White
It gives the appearance of chalk
 on a
chalk board.

I added some apples also!

Continuing to paint the houses 

and 

white picket fences.

Adding some clouds in the sky!

The lettering is done 

NOW

to finish all the apples! 

Now to paint the chairs!

I painted the seat
and
back of the chair
with 
Lamp Black
so it would resemble
a
chalkboard

After all my pieces were painted
 I gave them several coats
of

Americana Decor
Soft Touch Varnish

DecoArt 

provided me with the paint

 to complete this project as part of its 

Helping Artist Program

 and

Thyme for SANDY FEET!

 It's 

SUMMER THYME 

on 

Cape Cod!

Step into my 

STUDIO 

and 

see what I've been working on!

I have to admit that after the long winter we had in 

NEW ENGLAND

now

 that 

SUMMER 

has arrived 

I am spending more thyme oustside than in my 

STUDIO

I wanted to show you a fast easy project I designed

to add to my summer seasonal decor

My Pallette 

Americana Acrylic Paints

Grape Juice, Wisteria, Bahama Blue, Sea Breeze, Bluegrass Green, Indian Turquoise, Desert Turquoise, Royal Fushia, Tangerine, Citron Green, Lamp Black , Titanium White

I drew up a pattern for LARGE flip flops measuring 22" tall

I cut and sanded my wood

then sealed it using

Americana Multi Purpose Sealer

Now the fun!!! Painting my flip flops!!!! 

The color combinations are endless!

I was having a summer thyme luncheon at my house

 for several girlfriends

 and 

wanted to send them home with a gift 

so I made several of these!

Some of my 

FAVORITE 

color combinations!

I used several coats of

Dura Clear Varnish

to finish my sandals so they could be hung outside

I added saw tooth hangers to the backs of the sandals

This was a FUN project too work on!

that I painted called

Boston Harbor

This design

Deco Art Americana

Antiques green, Antique White, Asphaltum, Black Plum, Blue Grey Mist, Burnt Sienna, Cadium Yellow, Camel, Celery Green, Lamp Black, Leaf Green, Light Buttermilk, Light French Blue, Milk Chocolate, Mississippi Mud, Neutral Grey, Plantation Pine, Raw Sienna, Rockwood Red, Soft Black, Titanium White, Uniform Blue

Base coating the back ground

Adding trees and shrubs

I always like to take a step back 

from my work to see how it looks 

from a distance

Starting the lighthouse 

As I was painting the lighthouse 

I was not really sure I liked the stones on it

 I decided to stop painting the lighthouse for the moment
and
proceeded to paint the house in front of it

I then realized that the stones appeared too large on the lighthouse

I repainted the lighthouse
because
I felt that the stones appeared too large
for
the size of the lighthouse
I was pleased with the lighhouse
AFTER
re-doing it
What do you think?

I also worked on the large trees in the distance
 to allow some light
to shine thru

Time to paint the houses

As I was painting the houses
 it appeared like they were in the water
so I changed the shoreline

I used
DecoArt Dura Clear Matte Varnish 
to
seal my piece

(In this photo you can better see the changes I made to the shoreline)

My husband made the frame for my
Boston Harbor 
piece

I used 

Americana Decor 

 Chalky finish 

to 

paint my frame

The color I used 

was 

Carbon

I sealed my frame 

with

Americana Decor

Clear Creme Wax
