Thyme to hop on over to see my salt dough Easter egg ornaments and carrots

A few weeks ago I posted this picture of
salt dough eggs and carrots I was making

you were all curious to see what I was going to
do with these carrots and eggs

Well.......the wait is finally over!
I painted them of course

carrots, carrots a rabbits delight!

beautiful pastel eggs!

I then sealed them
I stained the carrots using a gel varnish
and
I used a matte spray varnish on the eggs

I then drilled holes in them
and
strung them with homespun

I had these wooden boxes that came with handles
which I took off
I base coated the boxes black
when dry I painted over them with light ivory
I painted 3 boxes with rabbits on them
using a

Terrye French

design

side views

I cut a piece of wood about 32" tall x 1" wide
I then cut 16  3/8"dowels of various lengths
I drilled holes and inserted the dowels through

I poured plaster of paris in the box and let it set

I base coated with black then light ivory
I antiqued them using a gel stain

I added some colored spanish moss
I can't WAIT to see what this is all going to look like......
how about you???

I tied my ornaments on
the dowels

how cute is this?

I added a home spun bow and tags to the tops

a carrot tree!

a carrots and egg tree!

I
 LOVE
them!

Thyme to meet HARA Bunny another Terrye French Design

This is one sweet bunny
her name is
Hara

I used rusty wire for the whiskers,
and
tied a homespun bow on her head,
she has tiny heart shape buttons on her dress
I threaded some string thru the buttons and tied it
before glueing the buttons on
I added a tiny ladybug to the welcome sign

Hara is holding a tiny
watering can
I painted lavender across the hem of her dress
and
added a large muslin bow
Hara's body is wired together in sections

Hara is about 20" tall
she is cut from wood.

Todays Menu...........carrots.........and salt dough

I painted this sign
because we had
CARROTS
FOR DINNER

because
REALLY
who wants to be
cooking dinner

when you can be cooking
salt dough ornaments
like these

BUT
you are going to have
to
wait to see what I'm going to do
with these!

I have to get back to painting

so I painted these carrots
and
tied them with some twine

I hung this little metal cup from the other arm

OH.........what a face
and
a homespun bowtie
he's
one handsome guy!

what do you think?
He is a Renee Mullins Design
and
can be found at

Oh........
And by the way I'm not turning
into a vegetarian or anything.......
I added the carrots for dinner to the pot roast
that simmered all day in my crockpot!!!!
Happy Painting!
