Thyme for a Cape Cod Santa

pattern

I just knew I had to paint it since I live on Cape Cod!

This is a view of the harbor not to far from my home.

Of course 

it is

 WINTER THYME 

on 

Cape Cod

so 

I am enjoying the warmth 

of 

my STUDIO 

these days!

My Pallette

DecoArt Americana

 Acrylics

Ice Blue, Tomato Red, Neutral Grey, Paynes Grey, Bahama Blue, Bleached Sand, Dusty Rose, Buttermilk, Colonial Green, Antique Maroon, Lamp Black, Shading Flesh, Snow White, Antique Teal, Driftwood, Napa Red

Dazzling Metallics

White Pearl, Shimmering Silver

SURFACE PREPARATION

I used GESSO to  prime my canvas

I applied 2 good coats of GESSO using a foam brush

Allow each coat to dry well in between applications

Lightly sand after each coat has dried

LETS PAINT!

I applied 2 coats of Ice Blue paint using a foam brush

I then sanded lightly again and wiped dust with a damp paper towel

I transferred the main pattern design 

using

 graphite paper

I am starting to work on 

the 

face details

eyes

the 

BALL jar

I have painted

the

face details

and 

BALL jar

I have now painted

 the 

hat, cuffs, mittens 

I am starting to paint 

the 

sign

The 

sign and buoy 

are 

painted

I have now painted 

the 

flag 

I painted 

the 

detail 

on the

 cuffs and hat

I glued the Santa together and added the stars to the hat

 using

Aleene's Thick Designer Tacky Glue

I then painted

 the 

wood base

I stuffed the Santa 

with 

cotton stuffing 

and 

glued the base

to the 

bottom

I have finished my Santa!
